The Buckeye Christian Church exists to REACH people where they are, RESTORE them to a relationship with God, and to REPRODUCE ourselves in others.

In (Acts 20 ), Paul implores the church leaders at Ephesus to "shepherd" the church. "Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood. I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them" (28-30).

I can remember when the church was much smaller, I had the phone number of every member family memorized. I could call everyone each week if I wanted. Since then the church has gone from 20 families to well over 200 families. I don't memorize phone numbers any more.

Before we had the tear-off registrations on the bulletin, I would go home and mark everyone who was in attendance on a ledger sheet. Today, I see so many faces that one week blurs into another and while I notice who was here, I don't always notice who was not here. The registration forms you are asked to fill out from week to week help us to know who is missing from the family. Please fill them out to make our job easier. There was a day when I could remember a visitors name and face for weeks after their visit. Today I am having a hard time putting faces with names because there are just too many to remember (I refuse to say that it is because my mind is getting old and forgetful) and we have new visitors every single Sunday.

With all these new families visiting and joining we have a very strong need for a more organized shepherding program. God's word charges the elders and church leaders to "Be shepherds of the church of God." You will be getting information soon about how our shepherding program will work here at BCC. The goal of those who are to be shepherds in this program is to encourage each member and regular attendee of the church to G.R.O.W. closer to the Lord. The main difference that you will notice when we implement this program over the next few months is that there will be a person who will be checking in with you from time to time. Please be open with your shepherd about your needs.

We do know that there are savage wolves out there desiring to destroy each member of this flock. We want to be proactive and be sure that we have a system in place that will keep that at a minimum. Please keep this new ministry in your prayers...

Our Vision:
To be a church that Restores People, Reproduces ourselves, and Rescues Others
